Crowns & Bridges
Crowns
A crown is used to protect the remaining structure of severely broken or fractured teeth. Crowns are often used when large existing fillings need to be replaced. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can return normal chewing function and appearance.
The type of crown recommended for you will depend on your treatment plan, the position of the tooth and what is best for the long term outcome of your appearance, chewing function and overall oral health.
At Channon & Lawrence Dental Centre we offer a range of crowns including:
Full porcelain crowns which are sent away to our Ceramist to be made in his laboratory.
Full porcelain Cerec crowns which are made at Channon & Lawrence Dental Centre using high tech computerised technology.
We are extremely proud to own the very latest Cerec Emax computerised system right here at Channon & Lawrence Dental Centre.
Patients often take this opportunity to whiten the surrounding teeth. The new tooth is matched to the whiter, brighter colour.
Bridges
A bridge is used to replace single or multiple missing teeth. A crown is placed on teeth on either side of the space, with the ‘missing teeth’ attached to form a bridge. We use porcelain alone or in combination ie porcelain fused to zirconium or gold for strength. Your Dentist will discuss the best choice for your individual needs at your consultation. It may also be recommended that a dental implant is the best treatment option (click here for Implant information).
